Summary From first of January 2016, FIRs would be registered for possessing illegal arms
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) -- Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, on Friday said that 31st of December is the deadline for verification of arms licenses. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said that from first of January 2016, FIRs would be registered for possessing and illegal arms against all those who fail to get their licenses verified, reported Dunya News.
The Interior Minister told the media that a countrywide campaign has been launched against human smugglers and fake travel agents, which would continue for a month. He further said that a European Union (EU) delegation is arriving in Pakistan and would meet him on Monday to discuss the issues arising out of re-admission agreement between Pakistan and the European Union (EU). Ch. Nisar said that EU has been Pakistan’s development partner but there can t be any compromise when it comes to issues concerning integrity of the country.

Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhary Nisar on Friday strongly dispelled the rumors stating that there was no conflict between the civil and the military leadership of the country. Nisar said he is left wondering why people say such things.
The Federal Interior Minister stated that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif had shown no divergence on the national stance of the country on his previous visit to the US. Nisar said that Army Chief’s visit to the US was also pre-decided and an important meeting had been held previously in this regard.
Nisar stated that funds have been revived to ensure that the National Counter-terrorism Authority (NACTA) was made a functional organization within six months. Nisar expressed that no action shall be taken against any innocent individual.
Nisar informed that various Non-Government Organizations (NGO) had been working in the country, however only nine had been allowed to be active. Nisar stated that all organizations must work within legal boundaries.
A potential tension was seen earlier this month when the Army Chief in a Corp’s Commander meeting in Rawalpindi had stated that good governance was a must for better results. The statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) was seen by many political leaders and analysts as a hint towards the civil leadership that there was a need to match governance initiatives with military operations to eliminate militancy from the country.
Opposition leader Khursheed Shah had stated during a National Assembly meeting that the statement was a strong hint to the government and stated that it looked as if the civil and the military leadership were not on the same page.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party stated that the government should ensure presence of ministers in the assembly session. He said finalization of any foreign policy out of the Parliament is not acceptable.
Suggesting better ties between the military and civil leaderships, Achakzai had said both ‘Sharifs’ should work together on same page.
