KARACHI (Dunya News) – Firing by unidentified miscreants claimed a life on late Wednesday in Lyari while law enforcers have arrested as many as eight criminals in different operations.

A firing incident in gang war-hit Lyari’s Shah Baig area claimed a local’s life. Police said that the body was identified by name Gul Zafar.

On the other hand, Pakistan Rangers that has been deployed in Karachi for eradication of terror acts and street crimes, apprehended seven criminals. Spokesperson for the paramilitary force gave out the details. He said that the troops operated in Lyari, Gul Centre and Tariq Road resultantly, terror outfits’ operatives among seven were held.

Nabi Bakhsh area police caught a culprit named Yasir who was wanted in several extortion and street crimes cases. Garden Police Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shehla Qureshi said that a case has been initiated against the felon.

Separately, a three-wheeler turned turtle on Shahra-e-Faisal claiming three lives including father and son. The deceased persons were identified by names Ismail, Ali and Rustum.

Earlier on November 4, ASP Qureshi had led an operation that saw three arrests. Qureshi said that the culprits were responsible for setting a market on fire during the 2009 Muharramul Haram bombing. Arrested suspects include Shakir, Kamran and Waqar had been wanted in various other cases also. 

It should also be mentioned here that intelligence agencies have compiled a list of as many as 86 suspects who are still at large two years into the Karachi operation. Law enforcement agencies have stated that at least 70,000 suspects have been apprehended so far in two years of targeted operation in Sindh s metropolitan.
