Summary 40 companies of army, 8 companies of Rangers will assist civil administration during 2nd phase
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has on Tuesday said that the members of assemblies have been banned from visiting the polling stations. He also told that 40 companies of army and 8 companies of Rangers will assist the civilian administration during the second phase of local body elections, reported Dunya News.
Talking about the measures taken by Punjab government for ensuring security during second phase of local body elections, Rana Sanaullah told that the members of the assemblies have been banned from visiting the polling stations and the candidates have been directed to submit their personal arms at the relevant police stations. The weapons submitted will be returned 3 days after the elections. He said that those found violating the orders will have their licenses cancelled.
Punjab Law Minister told that 105,000 police officers and officials will be doing their duty in 12 districts of Punjab during the second phase of the local body elections. He told that Section 144 has been imposed to prevent aerial firing and victory rallies. He said there will be zero tolerance for display of arms.

In a high level meeting presided over by Shahbaz Sharif, measures to maintain law and order during the second phase of local body elections were examined. CM directed on this occasion to cancel the licenses of the candidates that don’t give up their arms till the local body elections. He also ordered to ensure the adherence to the ban on display of arms.
Punjab CM said that nobody is allowed to lead a victory rally. He also ordered police to ensure strict implementation of the plan to ensure law and order in the 12 districts where polls are being held this Thursday.
