WASHUK (Dunya News) – Two suspects belonging to banned outfit on Tuesday have been arrested in a joint operation by Frontier Constabulary (FC) and intelligence agencies.

FC spokesperson said that an operation was carried out in Washuk’s main market. The raid resulted in two arrests. The authorities said that the arrested culprits are believed to have links with banned organization.

The suspected militants were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Earlier on October 25, the FC and intelligence agencies had raided Washuk and killed two extremists while as many as four militants were taken into custody.

The spokesman told the media that the operation was held on a tip off received about the presence of criminal elements. The alleged terrorists opened fire at security officers retaliating to which, two militants were killed.

FC authorities revealed that the miscreants were involved in heinous crimes and other acts of terrorism. However, forces also claimed to have confiscated huge cache of weapons from the possession of dead suspects.

Officials say more than 3,000 militants have been killed since the launch of the latest offensive in tribal areas of Pakistan.

In the recent past, FC had raided Pak-Afghan border area Chaghi and recovered weapons hidden underground. The seized weapons included 10 sub-machine guns (SMGs), 13 rocket-propelled grenade-7 (RPG) rockets and 40 boxes of 12.7mm ammunition.

The Pakistani military has vowed to crush the insurgency and assured China of security for a planned China-Pakistan economic corridor from the Balochistan port of Gwadar up to the Chinese border in northern Pakistan.
