Pakistan fully capable of thwarting IS threat: Foreign Secretary

Summary Aizaz Chaudhry says IS has no presence on Pakistani territory and state will thwart any such threat

ISLAMAABD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry has on Sunday said that Pakistan is fully capable of thwarting any threat of Islamic State (IS) or any other extremist organization. He said that IS has no presence on Pakistani soil, reported Radio Pakistan.

In an interview, Aizaz Chaudhry said that there is no possibility of IS presence in Pakistan and the state will thwart any such threat if arises. He said that no one will be allowed to have any links with Daesh (Arabic name of IS) in the country.

Chaudhry reiterated the resolve to eliminate any threat terrorism from the country and said that Pakistan is winning its war against terrorism.

Terming them ‘ruthless and heinous’, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday strongly condemned the Paris terror attacks and said Pakistan stands with people of France against terrorism, Dunya News reported.

Talking to the media in his Swat visit, PM said terrorists have no religion or nationality.

The PM strongly condemned the attacks and termed them ‘ruthless and heinous’.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan has also strongly condemned the deadly attack. In a statement, its spokesman said the government and people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with France. The statement strongly condemns the attacks and expresses condolences over the loss of lives.

Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq also wrote to the French counterpart and expressed condolences on the loss of lives.

Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani also wrote to the French counterpart and condemned the incident.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan also condemned the attacks and said he can understand the anger in Paris following the attacks. He said Pakistani people have also gone through some of the deadliest terrorist attacks such as Army Public School (APS) attack in Peshawar last year.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the attack and called on the international community to unite against terrorism.
