The Shahdadkot preventive embankment is under the constant threat of being collapsed due to surging water level. In the wake of flood threat, Shahdadkot District has been fully evacuated.Water inflow at all three barrages is constantly surging particularly at Kotri Barrage, keeping up pressure against all safety embankments along River Indus at downstream. Kotri Barrage upstream is witnessing a constant and alarming surge where emergency has been declared in Katcha areas located alongside downstream with people being rapidly evacuated to safer places. Authorities have declared Hyderabad areas including Qasim Abad, Hussain Abad as sensitive. Five low lying villages have been submerged under water already.High tide in River Indus resulted in flooding of dozens of villages near Amri, Khanot and Badapur including a railway track along these areas, keeping the train service between Karachi and Quetta suspended. Fear has spread in surrounding localities due to seepages developed in dykes at Baodero, Jakhri, Sekhat and Galyan near Matiari.A low flood has been reported in River Ravi while the authorities have safety drills in the area. Flood center has also issued warning of floods in Kasur.Land sliding has added problems in the lives of the residents of Nelum valley as well. The valley grappled with skyrocketing fruit and vegetable prices. The prices of basic items such as tomatoes, onions, potatoes and squash have in some cases quadrupled in recent days, putting them out of reach for many people who struggled to get by even before the floods hit.Flood torrent wreaked severe havoc near Jamshoro Indus Highway. Seepage has been taking place at Karokhao embankments while water is roaring towards the population. A 798,828 cusecs water tide is passing through Malakatiar at River Indus while the authorities have evacuated the area in view of the flood threat. A high flood wave is passing through Kotri Barrage which has inundated low-lying areas at Hyderabad, Thatta and Tando Muhammad Khan. Met Department warned that an exceptionally high flood would enter Kotri Barrage. In Hyderabad, water submerged Lub Mehran Park and Mooenabad. Security has been beefed up at the safety dykes at Latifabad, Qasimabad and other low-lying areas of Hyderabad. On the other hand, dozens of villages have been submerged around Thatta.Water level at Sukkur and Guddu Barrage is receding while same situation has been reported from upper Sindh. Scores of villages of Kot Magsi were flooded.
