Summary The plea has been forwarded by PAT

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A petition was filed in the High Court (HC) on Saturday challenging results of as many as 274 union councils (UC) in the first phase of local body (LB) polls which was objected to by the office.

Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhry filed the plea on behalf of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT). However, the high court office has made an objection to the petition and urged the filer to attack political party s letter along.

The petition states that major irregularities were seen in 274 UCs during the LB elections that were held October 31. The plea accuses the authorities of tempering with the results formed by the returning officers (RO).

Plea states that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) did not train the officials.

Irregularities and untrained polling staff could not make the elections free and fair. The party has requested the Lahore HC to annul the results and bar the commission from issuing notifications of alleged winning candidates.

The plea declares the ruling party, Punjab Government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the ECP as parties in the case.
