The worst floods in Pakistans recorded history continue to cause more death and destruction across the country. The floods once against brought destruction to District Jafar Abad in Balochistan. Whereas Sijawal tehsil in Sindh has been submerged and several katcha villages of Nawab Shah have been inundated after Moro and Dadu. Water level at Guddu and Sukkur barrages is reducing but its increasing at Kotri barrage. Floods are heading towards Hyderabad, Jamshoru, Matyari, Tandu Muhammad Khan and Thatha from Nawab Shah. More than 200 villages in Sakrand, Mehrab Pur, Bachal Pur, Dolat Pur, Sehwan Qazi Abad and Lukki have been inundated. Tehsil Garhi Kheiru of Jacobabad is under water when two breaches occurred in Kherthar Canal and Saifullah Magsi Canal and water is heading towards Tehsil Qabu Saeed Khan. Southern Punjab cities including Muzaffargarh, Jampur, Rajanpur, Kot Mithan are once again experiencing the devastation of the floods. Flash floods entered into the downstream of Usta Mohammad and Ghandaka, destroying mud houses and rendering thousands of people homeless. However, Usta Mohammad city remained safe because of a protection dyke. Floods further destroyed life and property of people in low-lying areas of Usta Mohammad and Ghandaka where road link and communication system have been severely disrupted. Breaches in four canals, including the Pat Feeder canal, have been plugged in a bid to save Jaffarabad areas of Dera Allah Yar and Rojhan Jamali.According to the data released by Federal Flood Commission on Thursday at least 1556 persons have been killed and 2088 injured, while 10963 villages have been affected so far in the countrys worst flooding in 80 years. As many as 567,461 houses were either completely destroyed or partially damaged. At least 91,210 houses have been destroyed or damaged in Punjab, 211,375 in Sindh, 178,493 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 75,261 in Balochistan, 1,432 FATA, 2,820 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 6,870 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. At least 1,522 relief camps have also been established in all the flood-hit areas to provide prompt relief to the affectees. The flood also affected 10,963 villages in various parts including 3,132 in Punjab, 4,295 in Sindh, 581 in KP, 2,584 in Balochistan and 371 in GB. Meanwhile, the Indus continues to flow in exceptionally high flood level with falling trend in Guddu-Sukkur reach. It is in high flood with falling trend Taunsa and in medium flood with falling trend in Kalabagh-Chashma reach. The Indus is likely to sustain exceptionally high flood level in Guddu-Sukkur reach during next 24-48 hours. Under this scenario, inundation and riverine flooding in low lying areas of Districts Khairpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Sukkur, Karkana, Dadu, Nawabshah, Hyderabad and Nausheroferoze can occur. The river is flowing in medium flood with rising trend at Kotri Barrage. It is likely to attain high flood level during the next 12-24 hours, which may further rise to 500,000-600,000 cusecs during the next two to three days.
