KARACHI (Dunya News) – The court in Karachi has handed over the security guard involved in publicly torturing woman to police for one-day today (Thursday).
The hearing was held at Karachi’s judicial court South during which the suspected security guard told the court that the woman was wanted in robbery bids and that he assaulted her when she denied all the charges and spitted on his face.
He said that he thrashed her in a rage which he felt wrong afterwards.
The investigating officers demanded a 14-day remand of the suspect but the court refused and sent the security guard to jail on a one-day remand.
Earlier, police began investigating the violent beating of a woman brought in for questioning over theft charges. After Dunya News highlighted the incident, it was revealed that the woman was attacked violently at Gulf Market police station.
The woman identified as Rehana was brought in on suspicion of stealing gold worth several lakh rupees when the police started beating her up violently to extract confession.

The policemen also used abusive language along with the violent attack. As per the police officials, she was arrested on theft charge but was let go after investigation.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South further revealed that the policeman shown in the video was just a guard of a security company and not one of their officers.

After the video surfaced on media, the police raided Clifton Gulf Market and took at least two personnel into custody.
The video shocked and outraged the public after which Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah ordered the Inspector-General (IG) to submit a report of the incident.
