Ashura processions in Lahore, Karachi come to end
Youm-e-Ashur was being observed today (Saturday) across the country with religious fervour.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Youm-e-Ashur was being observed today (Saturday) with reverence and religious fervour throughout the country to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for their supreme sacrifices.
Every year, this day is observed on 10th of Muharram to commemorate the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions at Karbala to uphold the truth.
Taziya, Alam and Zuljanah processions was taken out in all the major cities and towns across the country. On the day, religious clerics and scholars shed light over the historical, social and religious aspects of supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
In Lahore, the main Zuljanah procession emerged from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate late on Friday night amidst strict security arrangements. Thousands of Azadars participated in the Zuljanah procession which after passing through its traditional route culminated at Karbala Gamay Shah in the evening where Majlis-e-Sham-e-Ghariban was held to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) in which noted ‘Zakerin’ highlighted the importance of the sacrifice of grandson of Prophet (PBUH) and his companions.
The main Zuljanah procession in Karachi was taken out from Nishtar Park. The procession passed through M A Jinnah Road, Empress Market, Regal Chowk and Tibet Centre and culminated at the Hussainia Iranian Imam Bargah, Kharadar.
In Peshawar, the main Zuljanah procession was taken out from Imam Bargah Kocha Jan Alam and after passing through its traditional route ulminated at the same Imam Bargah in the evening.
The main Zuljanah procession in Quetta were taken out from Alamdar Road which passed through its traditional route and culminated at the Imam Bargah Kalan after Maghrib prayer.
Zuljanah processions were also taken out in other major cities, including Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Muzaffargarh, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Khairpur.
Tight security arrangements had been chalked out to maintain law and order across the country during Ashura.
All the provincial governments had beefed up the security for mourning processions and thousands of security personnel were been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
Beside police force, law enforcement agencies’ personnel had also been deployed to ensure peace and harmony.
Pillion-riding was banned for two days in several cities while control rooms were set up for strict monitoring through CCTV cameras.
Mobile phone services remained blocked on Youm-e-Ashur in sensitive areas in 68 districts across Pakistan as terrorists often use cellular phones as detonators.
