Bhatti was involved in target killing of prominent personalities and planning terror attacks

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The head of death squad of a banned terrorist outfit Haroon Bhatti has been brought to Lahore after getting arrested in Dubai along with four accomplices, Dunya News reported.

Bhatti was involved in target killing of prominent personalities and planning terrorist attacks and his arrest has potentially thwarted major terrorist attacks.

SSP CIA Muhammad Umar Virk stated that investigation from the under custody terrorist is underway however, the suspect Haroon Bhatti has confessed to have planned a major terror bid during Muharram 10 in Lahore.

On the other hand, in the wake of outfit’s head claim, the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) has been received directives to form teams for ensuring door-to-door search.

The suspect Haroon was a member of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s founding bench and a head of target killing group.

It is pertinent to mention here that the detained militant was involved in heinous crimes including attack on Allama Nasir Abbas on December 16, 2013. The suspect was also found guilty in the assassinations of eye specialist Syed Ali Haider and his young son who were gunned down on February 18, 2013.

Earlier, Inspector General (IG) Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera declared as many as 12 districts of Punjab as sensitive during the month of Muharram and stated that at least 2 lakh 658 personnel will perform their duties across the province on the occasion of Ashura.

The districts declared sensitive include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Bhakkar, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar, Chakwal and Pakpattan.
