Chief Justice Iftikahr Muhammad Chaudhry has warned that judicial breakdown could take place in Balochistan after September 5 and directed the Federal Government to pre-empt the situation. The chief justice, heading a 17-members bench, was hearing the identical petitions against some clauses of 18th amendment. The CJ questioned that how the additional judges would be confirmed in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq told the court that the Prime Minister hold consultation during a high-level meeting regarding the said issue, however no decision has been taken so far. Federations counsel told the court that the parliament enjoyed unlimited powers including amendment in the Constitution while the CJ asked that such huge powers of the parliament may secularize the country. Justice Ramday questioned that would Pakistan's legislative assembly allow gay marriages as the Western Parliament did.
