293 tons of drugs set ablaze in Quetta, IG FC warns smugglers of stern action

Summary IG FC added that the work to formulate the provincial anti-narcotics law is already underway.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Inspector General (IG) in Frontier Corps (FC) Major General Sher Afgan on Thursday warned terrorists and smugglers of stern action against them.

While addressing a ceremony over anti-narcotics held in Quetta, IG FC revealed that country’s foes are using money taken from running drug cartels and trafficking  in launching deadly terrorist activities in the country.



He said that police and other security personnel have all come up with new tactics, strategies and trainings in combating narcotics.

Meanwhile, at least 293 tons of drugs were also set ablaze while pledging to be united for launching awareness campaigns across the province.

IG FC added that the work to formulate the provincial anti-narcotics law is already underway which will help in lining up the collective targeted operations and raids. The FC official also sought assistance from Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in this regard.

No smuggler and trafficker would be allowed to smash country’s peace, warned Maj Gen Sher Afgan.



Afghanistan has been enlisted on the top for giving ways to drugs production, a report proposed. However, the Afghan governemnt has not prepared any practical policies to demolish drug gangs  associations so far. 

Moreover, IG FC has urged the whole nation and incumbent governmental officials to jointly initiate precautionary measurements in eradicating the menace of narcotics.

On the other hand, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Executive Director Yury Fedotov said that moves to legalize narcotics could lead to increased consumption and more deaths and more suffering of individuals (and) their families, therefore the countries should pay attention on wiping out this matter.
