Loadshedding cannot end before March 2018: Ishaq Dar
CPEC is an important project to link ways between countries, said Ishaq Dar.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A new deadline and a new tall claim by government came out as Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar on Tuesday stated that load-shedding cannot come to an end before March 2018.
While addressing a seminar over national economy, Ishaq Dar said that the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is currently working on several short and long term power projects including construction of dams so that the power production in the country can be enhanced.
Criticizing baseless allegations of opposition parties, the minister suggested to separate politics from economy and termed Pakistan’s economical expansion crucial for the development.
Talking about China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Ishaq Dar told that CPEC is not just a name of a road or railway system but a mega project as it would not only benefit Pakistan but other countries of the region as well. He added that trade figures have been raised extensively which would result in benefiting the economy.
CPEC is an important project to link ways between countries, said PML-N leader.
Dar stated that expanded economy has caused massive increase in foreign exchange whereas the federation is also focusing on returning debt to International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The federal minister finally accepted that youth’s unemployment leads to their association in terrorist and other heinous activities. He pledged to combat poverty at earliest and assured provision of enormous resources.
‘Power crisis cannot end before March 2018’, he clarified.
Power cuts have worsened in Pakistan in recent years, becoming one of the main sources of discontent in the country. Parts of Pakistan face power cuts of up to 8-10 hours per day, undermining the country s weak economy and increasing hardship for citizens. Anger periodically boils over into violent protests.
Earlier, PM Nawaz also vowed to eradicate power outage by 2018. The premier added that ensuring cheap electricity is government’s top priority. He said that power tariff will be reduced to half. Nawaz stated that the government is devoted to bring back the lights of the entire country.
