KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Cabinet will hold a key session today (Tuesday) where matters pertaining to wheat sale, Sindh local bodies election and security arrangements on the occasion of Muharram-ul-Haram will be discussed.

The meeting will be presided over by Chief Minister of Sindh (CM) Qaim Ali Shah at CM House. The higher officials along with cabinet members have been called on to attend the session as important concerns would be presented in the House for arguments.


Wheat Issue


Sources told that the wheat cultivation in the province is a big issue as there is no permanent system of irrigation. Each year the provincial health and food department sets a procurement target and prepares strategies to achieve it.

Food department personnel stated that the support price needs to boost up so that it may help in encouraging the farming community.

CM Sindh would be briefed over the wheat sowing period and its cultivation. The sale and purchase matter would also be taken under debate.


Sindh LB polls


As per details, a comprehensive talk on the preparation of upcoming Sindh local bodies election has also been scheduled during session. First phase of the local body elections in Sindh will be held on October 31 during which Rangers and police will be designated to maintain law and order in the province.

In the first phase, the elections will take place in Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Khairpur, Larkana, Shikarpur and Qambar Shohda Kot.

The second phase of elections is due on November 19. Polling will be arranged in Matiari, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Benaziriabad, Naushero Feroz, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts.

According to the schedule for third phase, polling will be held in 6 districts of Sindh and 12 districts of Punjab on December 3. District Karachi East, Karachi West, Karachi South, Karachi Central, Korangi and Malir are included in this list.

It was revealed that 29 District Returning Officers, 316 Returning Officers and 551 Assistant Returning Officers will be deployed in the election. Moreover, there will be 16,601 Presiding Officers and 108,261 Assistant Presiding Officers conducting the election.

Moreover, the local administration would present detailed security plan for Muharram over monitoring of processions and rallies.
