Summary Bike sales have increased by at least 26 percent

KARACHI (Dunya News) – People seem interested in motorcycles to avoid discomfort of ride in congested buses as in first three months of the year more than 213,000 bikes were sold.

Auto dealers are of the opinion that cut in petrol price has added to the shift in conveyance mode. They said that motorcycle sales have increased by at least 26 percent in July-September period compared to the last year.

Vendors in Sindh said that ban on unregistered qingqi rickshaws by the government has a major role to play in the sharp shift.
The provincial government had imposed a ban on qingqi rickshaws in Karachi for not having fitness certificate and route permit. At least 65,000 qingqi owners that have been affected by the ban belong to Karachi.

All Karachi Qingqi Rickshaw Welfare Association approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) however, the court upheld the ban.
