Summary ECP has decided to take action against Returning Officers having sympathies with political parties
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Friday decided to take action against Returning Officers (RO) having sympathies with certain political parties, reported Dunya News.
In its letter to chief secretaries of Punjab and Sindh, ECP has said that complaints are being received about ROs having sympathies with certain political parties in the local body elections. ECP has directed both the chiefs to order ROs to remain impartial during the polls.
ECP has advised the ROs to act according to the sayings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The letter told the ROs that ministers will come and go but they must not forget that they are on their positions to serve the people.
The letter has been written after receiving complaints against ROs. The letter says that strong action will be taken against ROs who fail to act according to their mandate.
