CJ seeks clarification on new method of appointment

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry seeks clarification on the formation of a proposed judicial commission for the appointment of superior court judges.Heading the 17-member SC bench hearing of petitions challenging the 18th Amendment. The Chief Justice Chaudhry urged that the prime minister is the chief executive and his role in the process of judges' appointments cannot be restricted.Justice Asif Syed Khosa asked question to the Additional Attorney-General (AAG) regarding the responsibility of the Prime Minister if the Parliamentary Committee was to appoint judges to the apex court. In reply AAG Agha said that the PM will play his role as the head of the parliament.
