Death toll of Pakistani pilgrims in Mina tragedy reaches 45
Martyrdom of another missing Pakistani named Haji Sheikh Asif confirmed, toll reaches 43
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Another missing Pakistani, named Haji Sheikh Asif, in Mina tragedy has on Tuesday been confirmed as martyred, taking the total number of Pakistani martyrs in the tragic incident to 45 while the missing 53 are still being looked for, reported Dunya News.
According to the Hajj officials, Haji Sheikh Asif was a Lahore resident of Shadbagh area and was missing along with his wife, since the Mina incident. His wife is still missing. So far the toll has reached 45 while 53 are missing.
At least 39 to 49 injured have been released after treatment while as many as ten are still in different hopsitals in Makkah and Jeddah.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the martyrs and the missing are going through a painful time. Federal government has announced Rs. 500,000 for the relatives of each martyr and Rs. 200,000 for each of the injured. Moreover, the government has also announced to send 2 to 3 relatives of each martyr on Umra.
Punjab government has set up a helpline for obtaining information about the martyrs and the missing people. Relief desks have been established at the DCO offices of all the districts. The relatives of the missing people may contact 042-11172542. Punjab government has appointed DG PDMA as focal person and ADC Rawalpindi District Arif Raheem as focal person of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
