Summary
Lahore High Court has allowed PPP Amir Yar Warn, who resigned from a national assembly seat, to contest by-polls on Tuesday. It merits to mention that PPP MNA Amir Yar Warn, one of several parliamentarians involved in fake degree cases, resigned from his seat. The MNA won the election from NA-184 as an independent candidate and later joined the PPP. Mr Warn apparently resigned to avert a possible disqualification by the Supreme Court which is hearing a case against him. Warns rival Mian Najeebud Din challenged his degree in the Supreme Court, alleging that he got the degree from the Balochistan University because he was barred from the Bahawalpur university for three years for making another person sit on his place in the exam. He was accused of having submitted a fake degree he claimed had obtained from Balochistan University for contesting the Feb 2008 election. Later, Supreme Court sent the fake degree case against the PPP MNA Aamir Yar Warn, elected on NA-184, to the Election Commission (EC) for further proceedings. The court also ordered the Baloshistan University to appraise the degree and send the evaluation report to the EC.
