Summary

Finally, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi summoned UK High Commissioner Adam Thomson to Foreign Office seeking explanation vis-a-vis the anti-Pakistan statements by UK PM David Cameron, Dunya News reported on Monday. Qureshi would likely to register protest against the statement by the UK premier who during his 3-day India visit said that: Pakistan should know that it is not right to have any relationship with groups that are promoting terror. He spoke after the leak of more than 90,000 secret US files which detailed alleged links between Pakistan's intelligence services and Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan, long a source of concern in the West.UKs former foreign minister David Miliband dubbed Cameron as loudmouth for such irresponsible statements. Pakistan acted too late: Moeed Pirzada Senior analyst Moeed Pirzada, while talking to Dunya News, termed the summoning of the high commissioner as a formality, and deplored the delay of the action; David Cameron gave the statements on July 28. He adding that delayed reaction lost importance. He maintained that it seemed as if Pakistans political leadership and foreign office failed to react timely. He said the Prime Minister should have asked the President to cancel his UK trip in view of the ongoing diplomatic row between the two states. He said that President Zardaris visit is a surprise to many as there is no national agenda of the said visit and there was no urgency either. He said that the leaders cancel or postpone their foreign trips in view of any catastrophe hitting their country while President Zardari seemed to have no such qualms, despite the fact that he has every reason to do so. He said that Zardari went both to France and UK on a personal trip as the request for the visit was made by Pakistan and not by the abovesaid states. Zardari should have called off UK trip: Naseem Zehra Talking to Dunya News, Director Current Affairs Programmes in Dunya News Naseem Zehra said that the UK envoy should have been called earlier as the move came after 6 days of the statements by Cameron. She said that flood devastation is the major reason for President Zardari to call off his trip. She said that had President Zadari taken such decision, UK would have got an indirect message about the annoyance Pakistan feel.
