ECP Secretary stresses establishment of code of conduct in by-elections

Summary Babar Yaqoob vowed to hold polls in free and fair environment

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary Babar Yaqoob on Friday has ordered all stake holders to establish strict implementation of code of conduct during by-elections.

He stressed strict implementation while talking to the media after meeting Punjab Election Commissioner in Lahore.

He said that returning officers (RO) would take strict action against violators.

Yaqoob said that any political party who will be found guilty of any violation will face strict action. However, he said that the parties have ensured him of following the rules and code of conduct in the elections.

The Secretary vowed to hold polls in free and fair environment.
While answering a question, Yaqoob said that the ECP is keeping a vigilant eye over funds issued by the government so that they are not used for political purposes.
