Washington and Islamabad have agreed to put in place a restriction free and uniform visa regime for diplomats and embassy staff allowing them to carry out full range of activities. According to details, Pakistan will grant over 150 visas to the US marines and 250 visas for US diplomats. Pakistani government has decided to grant visas to the US marines without seeking clarification from US on its stance of deploying marines in Pakistan. The visas for the diplomats would be issued in the next 14-days. A US embassy spokesperson informed that Pakistani government has decided to cooperate in resolving the visa disputes for US nationals.It is pertinent to mention that delays in issuing and extension of visas of American diplomats and other embassy staff posted here remained a major irritant in relations between the two countries.
