Terrorist networks have been eradicated in Pakistan, claims Interior Minster

Summary 9,000 raids have been conducted in which 1,9114 terrorists have been slain

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan said on Monday that all terrorist networks have been finished from Pakistan. He said that National Action Plan (NAP) is a security policy and should not subjected to politics. He said that military-civil relationship is at an all time high, reported Dunya News.

Talking to media after a meeting of cabinet, Chaudhary Nisar said that NAP is a coordinated policy framework which is being implemented for the past 8 months adding that the framework had been designed by putting ‘one brick on another’. He said that good results have come out since NAP has been implemented.

Talking about media, Interior Minister said that criticism and guidance is part of media’s job. If the situation improves then nation will be shown the progress, he said, however baseless talk about civil-military relationship should not be propagated as it affects NAP. He said that NAP is a security policy and should not subjected to politics and point scoring.


9000 raids have been conducted in which 19,114 terrorists have been slain 


Chaudhary Nisar said that after NAP, there has been a 70% decrease in incidents of terrorism. He said that according to newspapers of June 2013, there were an average of 4 to 5 blasts per day adding that Quetta’s situation was grave back then but now months pass without any incidents of the sort.


2010 was the worst year as 2061 incidents of terrorism took place while there have been only 345 in 2015


He said that the year 2005 was the most peaceful year in terms of blasts. In 2006, he said, there had been 1444 incidents of terrorism while 2010 had been the worst year with up to 2061 incidents of terrorism. In 2014, the incidents declined to 1040 while in 2015 there have been only 345 incidents.

Chaudhary Nisar said that there had been emphasis on conducting operations based on tips from intelligence agencies as more than 9000 raids were conducted in which 19,114 terrorists had been slain while 883 had been arrested.


More than 500 militants have laid down arms in Balochistan


Warning against propagation of hate speech, Chaudhary Nisar said that strict action would be taken against those who indulge in such activities. He said that media should not give coverage to terrorists adding that no quarter will be given to such people.

Talking about situation in Balochistan, Interior Minister said that there is no concrete evidence to suggest change in Balochistan. He said that up to 500 militants had laid down arms, suggesting that a big breakthrough may be achieved soon adding that no further details can be revealed at this point.
