KARACHI: (Dunya News) – After disabled persons, lady health workers were also manhandled by Karachi police on Tuesday for protesting for their rights. Lady health workers were protesting for their salaries when the police started beating them up. One of the workers went unconscious as the police pushed and abused them. She was shifted to the hospital, reported Dunya News.

According to details, lady health workers led a protest march from Karachi Press Club to Sindh High Court. Afterwards, when they tried to march towards Sindh Assembly, police resorted to its infamous tactics. Male police officers kept engaging the lady health workers.

Situation worsened when police tried to force the lady health workers into a car. During the verbal clash with the police, one worker went unconscious and was taken to the hospital by her fellow health workers.

When Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) raised the issue in Sindh Assembly, provincial minister Nisar Khuhro went to talk to the protesters. Provincial ministers told the protesters that the amount arrived late from federal government due to which the salaries were delayed.

The ministers told the protesting lady health workers that Chief Minister has approved special grant and the salaries will now be paid on 1st of every month. The protest was called off after ministers’ assurances.
