KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Assembly witnessed pandemonium today (Monday) when Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members stood up from their seats and protested against party worker Muhammad Hashim’s killing in Karachi.
MQM MPAs tied black ribbons on their arms, held photographs of the deceased and shouted slogans during protest.
Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah was also present in the Assembly.
Speaking furiously in the provincial assembly, MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Haq said the Sindh government does not want to listen to the facts.
A minor scuffle broke out when Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPAs stood from the benches to approach the protesting MQM members. Both sides exchanged hot words.
Meanwhile, Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani urged the MQM members to return to their seats, but to no avail.
The session was adjourned for ten minutes.
MQM lawmakers continued their protest as the Assembly session resumed.
Earlier today, the MQM withdrew its call for a shutter down strike after the Director-General Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar assured that Hashim s killing would be investigated.
Hashim was a member of the MQM media cell and Unit 164 Liaquatabad. His body was found in Jamshoro late Sunday night, three months after his disappearance.
