Child abuse scandal: Seven accused to be presented in court for physical remand

KASUR (Web Desk / Agencies) - Seven men accused of sexually abusing children and distributing videos of the abuse in Kasur’s Husain Khanwala village will be presented before court today (Monday).

Police will seek physical remand of the accused including prime suspects Haseeb and Amir Mehmood.

At least 280 children were filmed being sexually abused by a gang of 25 men who blackmailed their parents by threatening to leak the videos.

Investigators are sifting through evidence, including 18 or 19 videos seized so far, said Kasur district regional police chief Shahzad Sultan.

Provincial home minister Shuja Khanzada has said authorities were rigorously investigating the men in custody and that about 10 other suspects would be arrested soon.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed anger and grief over the incident. He said that no concession will be given to those involved in the incident.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has already ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident.
