Worker's death: MQM takes back today's strike call

Summary MQM withdrew its strike call after assurance that killers of their worker would be arrested soon.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has taken back their strike call given for Monday following DG Rangers Maj Gen Bilal Akbar’s assurance that murder of MQM worker Muhammad Hashim would be investigated and the killers would be arrested soon.

Earlier, MQM had given a strike call for all over Sindh for Monday over the killing of its worker Muhammad Hashim whose body was recovered on Sunday night from Jamshoro.

Soon after the strike call, Sindh Rangers in a statement said that killing of MQM worker is a condemnable act but no one would be allowed to paralyze everyday life of the city. Rangers statement further said that holding a strike without any investigation is tantamount to affecting the city life.

DG Rangers Maj Gen Bilal Akbar in a statement said that killing of MQM activists would be investigated and perpetrators responsible would be brought to book.

After assurance from DG Rangers, MQM Rabitta Committee held an emergency meeting on Sunday night and withdrew its strike call.
