In the first phase 22 slums will be regularised, said Sindh Minister of Local Governement

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh government has decided to regularise slums located in Karachi. A draft of law to be passed on water stealing has been approved while Chief Minister (CM) Sindh has directed that a comprehensive list of ghost employees in all departments be prepared and presented, reported Dunya News.

Sindh Minister for Kutchi Abadis Javed Nagori gave briefing to a cabinet meeting presided by CM Sindh in which he said that according to National Action Plan, kutchi abadis (slums) are being regularised. He said that records of the people residing in slums are being compiled.

Javed Nagori said that those settlements that have been built upon roads and canals will be demolished while the residents will be provided with alternate residence. He said that help of private builders and developers would be taken in this regard.

Sindh Minister of Local Governement said that in the first phase 22 slums will be regularised which include Baloch Colony, Awan Goth, Mangho Pir, Bangash Colony and Natha Khan Goth.

CM Sindh directed all departments to prepare a comprehensive list of ghost employees. During the course of the conference, a draft on law against water stealing was approved as well. The draft will be presented in Sindh assembly tomorrow.
