Floodwater continues to swamp Sindh's under-developed areas

Summary Thousands of acres of crops have been thrown away by flash floods ruining the earnings of farmers.

SINDH (Dunya News) - As rising water in the River Indus inundated large swathes of areas in Sindh on Wednesday, a 20-year-old man was killed due to drowning in Kandhkot, Dunya News reported.

High flood in River Mastuj in Chitral swept away 12 shops whereas a wider area of Ghotki, Dadu and Larkana was greatly affected by it.

Guddu and Sukkur barrages are also in very high flood level. No relief activities are being conducted in South Punjab including Layyah and other areas as a result of which undreds of residents are still stranded in the inundated areas.

Raging waves in Rud Kohi nullahs are causing destruction in the villages of Rajan and Dera Ghazi Khan.

On the other hand, heavy rains and landsliding in Kharmang district of Gilgit-Baltistan has paralyzed the daily activities of people.

Besides this, water level in River Sutlej at the point of Ganda Singh has rose to 14.5 foot whereas the water inflow is 11,971 cusec.
