Sindh: Rangers get one year power extension
Updated on

Summary

The Sindh government has extended the authority of Rangers for another year to maintain law and order in Karachi. A notification has been forwarded to the Federal Interior Ministry in this regard. Rangers have been given powers equivalent to the local police to control the tension, unrest and violence in the provincial capital. These extended powers allow the Rangers to investigate possible suspects. The Rangers have been given special powers to deal with target killings and clashes which last for short periods in the past too. Last month, additional powers were granted to the Pakistan Rangers for three months. This is the first time, however, that these powers have been extended for a year.
