LB polls would be scheduled before August 23: Punjab govt assures LHC

The Punjab government has assured Lahore High Court that the schedule for the Local Bodies polls would be announced before August 23. During the hearing, the Punjab governments counsel told the court that a high-profile committee is working on the local bodies polls and the elections date would be announced immediately after its suggestions. The case has been adjourned till August 22. Meanwhile, the LHC sought a reply from Advocate General Punjab and Attorney General Punjab regarding the fake universities on July 27. Petitioner Iqbal Jaffrey contended in the plea that as many as 200 fake universities are operating in the country.
