CHITRAL (Dunya News) – Several houses collapsed after a lake caused by melting of glaciers broke down while at least seventy five adjoining villages got delinked from rest of the country, Dunya News reported.
The devastation is ongoing in Chitral as well causing a shortage of medicines and food items in the affected areas. The Pakistan Army is busy in the relief activities.
According to details, over sixty villages have been badly affected in Skardu and adjoining areas. At least hundred and ten houses, sixteen mosques, seven schools and nine power houses have also faced destruction. People continue to migrate to safer areas.
The destruction caused by flood continues in Chitral as well. The most affected areas are Darwish, Garam Chashma, Koragh, Boni and Mastoj. People have been restricted to their houses while continue to face a shortage of water, medicine and food items.
Chitral continues to have emergency imposed while the Pakistan Army has been facilitating the relief activities.
The Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Hidayatul Rehman also oversaw the relief activities.
According to the Disaster Management Authority, flood has affected 80 percent of Chitral’s population while one hundred and forty six houses have been completely destroyed.
Meanwhile, raging Indus river hit hundreds of populations while thousands of people are stuck after protective embankment in Dera Ghazi Khan broke up.
