Summary Chairman PTI claimed to prove rigging, conspiracy and planned thievery of mandate in 2013 election

LAHORE: (Web Desk, Dunya News) – Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan had made huge claims regarding the proofs of rigging in General Election 2013. After initially asking for inquiry on 4 constituencies, Imran Khan went on to announce a long march to Islamabad and sit-in outside the Parliament House.

After holding a 126-day long sit-in in Islamabad, Imran Khan finally called it off after the terrorist attack on Army Public School (APS) Peshawar. Later, PTI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) on April 1, 2015, according to which a judicial commission had to be set up, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan, to hold an inquiry into the allegations.

The inquiry commission was constituted on April 8, 2015, initially for 45 days but was extended later on and completed its proceedings in 86 days. Evidence and testimonies was provided by the 21 participating parties for the judicial commission to review and today (Thursday), the judicial commission issued its report rejecting all three claims by the PTI.

Imran Khan had repeatedly claimed that he, and his party, had proven the allegations and had provided the Judicial Commission with ample evidence to prove rigging. He also appreciated how the Chief Justice had conducted the commission. He even promised to accept the decision of the Judicial Commission, whatever it may be. However, PTI has not yet given an official response regarding the detailed report of the commission and has said that it cannot respond since the government hasn’t released the report as yet.

In the latest occurrence, however, the government has released the report officially and it can be viewed here: Final Report of GE 2013 Inquiry Commission 2015
