Summary

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that India wanted to limit the dialogue process to specific issues and such a mindset is not conducive for resumption of peace talks. During a press briefing on Friday, the disgruntled FM said that no headway is possible in the talks, if India stay stuck to its stance regarding the key issues. He added that narrow minded approach would bear no fruit. He said that Pakistan is ready to take up all the issues, but India did not seem so. He maintained that the basic motive of the talks was to chart out strategy to address the issues facing both the countries but the narrow minded approach would not be fruitful. He said India should have to come on the dialogue table with an open mind to resume the stalled peace talks. Terming Kashmir a disputed territory, Qureshi said that Pakistan could not ignore the Kashmir issue to take up trade only. The FM said that Pakistan could wait if India has issues of mandate as the meeting showed that India was not completely prepared.
