Punjab Assembly has unanimously passed pro-media resolution in the presence of 105 members. Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah presented the resolution. It is said in the resolution that Pakistani people, political activists and journalists gave a number of sacrifices for continuation of democratic process and the system cannot work without unanimity. The events of last few days damaged this reconciliation process; this resolution is presented for strengthening democracy and supremacy of law. In the resolution, role of media in restoration of democracy and judiciary has been appreciated. It is said in the resolution that any attack on freedom of media is an attack on democracy. The resolution emphasized that MPAs dont want to put curbs on media. It is suggested in the resolution that a committee should be formed to address the complaints of members and political representatives about media. PML-Q MPA Amir Sultan Cheema pointed out about the lack of quorum, which was rejected. Speaker PA banned Cheemas entry into the Assembly for 15 days on his protest.
