KARACHI (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated investigation against Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali and several other police officials on corruption charges, Dunya News reported on Thursday.
Sources report that the approval to probe the corruption charges has been given in a meeting presided over by Chairman NAB.
Other officials includeDeputy Inspector-General (DIG) headquarters Aleem Jaffery, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Finance Fida Hussain, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Logistics Tanveer Tahir, SP Asif Razzaq and SSP Maqsood Memon.
These officials are accused of corruption of billion of rupees while buying weapons, CCTV cameras, bullet proof jackets and cars for Sindh police.
Chairman NAB was briefed during the meeting that government funds are embezzled with the aid of finance department of police whereas some officials are also involved in organized crime.
Moreover, NAB authorities also authorised corruption inquiries against Balochistan’s former minister Abdul Gafoor Lehri for making assets worth Rs8 billion and three other cases.
