Summary MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui addressed a press conference in Karachi.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Responding to the arrest of 16 Muttahida Qaumi Momvement (MQM) workers, the party’s Coordination Committee issued an overnight press release asking that "under which law, the collection of Zakat and Fitra for welfare programs is a crime?"

Rangers on Wednesday night conducted a raid on MQM`s sector office in Rizviya Society and arrested 16 suspects including sector in-charge over allegedly forced collection of Fitra and Zakat.

Addressing a press conference, MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said arrest of the party workers is an attempt to create hurdles in the way of welfare activities and an atrocity on the masses.

He said the citizens are witness to the services and welfare activities of Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) but to justify their action, Rangers have termed the welfare activities as ‘extortion’.

Siddiqui said that over 25 MQM workers including three sector in-charges have been arrested in the last seven days without any reason.
