Summary Asif said govt was trying to reduce load shedding even further

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) -- Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif claimed that 93% of urban and 86% of rural areas are receiving uninterrupted electricity during Suhoor and Iftar timings and that ‘prominent’ reduction in load shedding took place with the beginning of the month of Ramazan.

He said K-Electric is responsible of supplying electricity to Karachi, adding that 650 megawatt electricity is still being provided to the K-Electric company despite ‘difficulties’ and expiration of agreement.

Asif said that the government is trying to reduce the duration of load shedding as much as possible so those fasting don’t face difficulties.

Meanwhile, State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali apologized to the public for surge in unannounced load shedding with the beginning of Ramazan and said that the government will try to reduce it in the coming days. He warned that if any factory is found running during the Suhoor and Iftar timings then legal action will be taken against those running the factory.
