Death toll rises to 70 in Mohmand attack

At least 70 people including women and children were killed while scores others wounded when a suicide bomber struck outside the office of a political agent in Yaka Ghund Bazaar in Mohmand Agency on Friday. Confirming the toll of 56 , the political agent said that delay in the rescue efforts caused rise in the tally. A stampeded in the bazaar ensued the blast, which also suspended the electricity and telephone system of the area. The blast destroyed around 30 to 40 shops, while it is feared that many people could have been trapped under the debris.Law enforcement agencies threw cordon around the area and stopped the media from coverage. Rescue teams rushed the site and started shifting the injured to nearby hospitals.
