Probe into Rawalpindi house fire underway

Initial post mortem report suggests that most of the victims died due to suffocation.

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Police have summoned brother-in-law of house owner today (Thursday) to interrogate him in connection with a fire incident that claimed lives of seven family members in Scheme III area of Rawalpindi on Wednesday, Dunya News reported.

Reportedly, fire suddenly engulfed the whole house, killing Shaukat, his wife Ayesha and five children including 12-year-old Hassan, 10-year-old Mohsin, 8-year-old Umar, 6-year-old Usman and 4-year-old Fatima.

Initial post mortem report suggests that most of the victims died due to suffocation.

The police have summoned victim Shaukat’s brother-in-law Shahzad to interrogate him in connection with the incident. Shahzad was present in the house when fire erupted and he also sustained injuries in the incident.

Police say that Shaukat had some property dispute with his relatives. His brother also died two years back in a fire incident.
