The Sindh government has banned two-stroke rickshaws and asked the two stroke rickshaw owners to upgrade engines of their vehicles to four-stroke as two-stroke rickshaws will be banned in major cities of the province.Sources revealed that the ban will be implemented in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Shikarpur and other major cities of the province. The decision had been communicated to the Two Stroke Rickshaw Owners Association.The Sindh High Court imposed a ban on Rickshaws in 2007 following which Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan gave a warning of three years to two stroke rickshaw owners. However no initiative was taken on the issue. Hundreds of people may get unemployed following the announcement by government.
