Saulat Mirza laid to rest in Karachi
Mirza was executed early morning on Tuesday
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Convicted target killer Saulat Mirza has been laid to rest at native cemetery in Karachi after a funeral that was attended by his family and neighbours, Dunya News reported.
According to details, Mirza’s funeral prayer was offered at his a mosque in Gulshan Memar area after his body was brought back to his residence after execution at Machh Jail Balochistan.
Reportedly, Mirza’s body was transported to Edhi morgue where it was cleansed and then handed over to the family.
His body was transported to his house amid tight security and bomb disposal squad’s sweeping of the area.
Mirza was buried at Shah Muhammad cemetery near resting place of his parents.
Execution:
Saulat Mirza was executed early morning today (Tuesday) at Machh Jail in Balochistan province. He was convicted for murder of Managing Director (MD) of K-Electric – then KESC – Shahid Hamid in 1999.
Mirza, notorious for target killing was accused of triple homicide along with other crimes.
As last wish, Mirza pleaded for 1 week time so that he could see the family of those he killed and apologize but the magistrate declined the plea saying it’s beyond his prerogative.

Reportedly, Mirza had unbreakable confidence even during the time the anti-terrorism court (ATC) was reading out his death sentence to him.
After Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted the temporary moratorium on death penalty following one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in Peshawar, Karachi’s ATC scheduled Mirza’s hanging for March 19.
The execution was, however, halted after Mirza’s confession video surfaced in which he accused Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of backing target killers and commissioning murders of the opponents.
Viewed as dying declaration, Mirza’s hail mary pass got him a temporary halt in execution on presidential order in order to investigate his allegations against MQM.
However, the ATC issued fresh death warrant on May 2, 2015, scheduling the execution for May 12, 2015 and was finally hanged in the wee hours.
