Summary

As many as 11 people were killed while 12 injured in a US drone strike in Mir Ali district of North Waziristan, Dunya News reported on Saturday. Sources said that a US drone aircraft fired two missiles in Pakistans North Waziristan region on the Afghan border. The drone targeted a house in Sokhel village, about 25 km (16 miles) east of Miranshah, the main town of the region and known as a hotbed of Taliban and al Qaeda militants. Residents said at least three drones were still flying over the area triggering fear in the locals. The United States has stepped up missile strikes in Pakistans northwestern region since a Jordanian suicide bomber killed seven CIA employees at a US base across the border in Afghanistans eastern Khost province in December. More than 900 people have been killed in over 100 drone strikes in Pakistan since August 2008.
