Petition to remove Altaf Hussain as MQM chief admitted in LHC

Hearing of the case is due to take place on Wednesday

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A petition was filed in Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyers’ wing seeking removal of Altaf Hussain from leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) party and has been admitted for hearing.

In the petition submitted by PTI lawyers’ wing’s president Meher Fiaz, it has been submitted that Altaf Hussain is a foreigner and no foreigner can lead a political party in Pakistan.

The petition said Altaf Hussain makes statements against Pakistan’s constitution through media and therefore he should be removed from party’s leadership.

Justice Qasim Khan will hear the case on Wednesday.
