Summary Judicial commission will consist of 3 SC judges appointed by CJP on federal govt's request
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – President Manoon Hussain on Friday passed the ordinance for the formation of judicial commission that will consist of three Supreme Court judges appointed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on federal government’s request, Dunya News reported.
According to the notification, copy of which Dunya News has received, the commission will get automatically dissolved after presenting the final report. The ordinance will be immediately implemented and will have ten points. The ordinance has been titled as General Election 2013 Inquiry Commission Ordinance 2015. The commission will comprise of three judges of the Supreme Court and government is bound to write letter to the Supreme Court within three days of the issuance of ordinance.
Commission will have the powers under the Criminal Court Act 1898 and 1908 and will be able to call upon anyone for inquiry. All the political parties will have the right to present their case before the commission. Federal and provincial governments will be bound to cooperate with the commission while commission will have the right to form one or more investigative teams for its facility.
The judicial commission will complete its report within 45 days and this report will be public property. The commission will get dissolved automatically after presenting the final report. The other petitions being heard in various election tribunals will continue to be heard as per normal procedure.
