Summary Authorities say will continue to contact counterparts in Yemen to figure out flight plan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan International Airline (PIA) that has its planes on standby to evacuate Pakistanis stranded in Yemen has been denied permission to fly into the warzone. The flights have not taken off yet and will continue waiting for clearance.

According to details, the Pakistani authorities are in constant contact with the counterparts in Yemen and those countries in the neighbourhood to figure out a flight plan.

The Pakistan Foreign Office had earlier said that Pakistan has its planes ready to safely evacuate the stranded compatriots.

A Crisis Management Cell was opened at the Foreign Office on Saturday over the ongoing Yemen crisis. Foreign Office spokeswoman said that the cell can be contacted at any time for information about evacuation of Pakistanis.

According to details, FO spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said that the crisis cell will work round the clock. The phone lines for the cell are 051-90569119, 051-90569346 whereas the fax number is 051-9217828.

The crisis cell can also be contacted via the email address (cmcmofa@gmail.com). FO Spokeswoman said that every step will be taken to ensure safe return of the Pakistanis in Yemen.

She said that Pakistan citizens in Yemen are being moved to a safe location within Yemen in the first phase, adding that special PIA flights will transport them back to Pakistan from there.
