Punjab Finance Minister Tanveer Ashraf Kaira will present the provincial budget for Year 2010-11 in Punjab Assembly today. Sasti Roti scheme, 50percent increase in salaries of government employees and increase in pensions will be among main allocations for the budget. Before presenting the annual budget, the finance minister would attend a Punjab Cabinet meeting in which a formal approval for the new fiscal year 2010-2011 budget would be given.The total outlay of the new financial years budget would likely be over Rs 583 billion. Rs 30 billion is expected to allocated for Ramzan Bachat Bazar Scheme. According to sources, the allocations of over Rs 100 billion will be made for law and order, health and education. The provincial government claimed that tax-free, pro-poor and pro-industry budget has been prepared. An increase in tax duty is expected on luxury cars. Alternation in property tax is also anticipated. Minor increase in allocation is expected in Public Sector Development. The government would allocate Rs 189 billion for completion of current developmental projects.
