Summary The SHC has rejected Mirza's sister's appeal of shifting him Karachi jail

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday has upheld the decision regarding  Saulat Mirza’s execution rejecting his review appeal of clemency petition.

According to the details, Mirza will be hanged on March 19 in Mach Jail in Balochistan. The parents, wife and children of Mirza have reached Mach Jail for final meeting before his execution. Moreover, the Sindh High Court (SHC) has also rejected Mirza’s sister’s appeal of shifting him to Karachi jail.

Earlier, the SC had reserved its verdict regarding the matter. The Chief Justice (CJ) held hearing of the case in his chamber upon Mirza’s request. Petitioner’s counsel Advocate Lateef Khosa appeared before the court. Earlier, the registrar office had shown reservation over Mirza’s appeal. Later, he had filed an appeal against those reservations.

The registrar office officials had said that reconsideration appeal of his clemency petition is inadmissible. The convict had filed reconsideration appeals and clemency petitions earlier which were also denied. They had said that second reconsideration appeal over the SC’s verdict cannot be entertained.
