Supermodel Ayyan sent on 14-day judicial remand in money laundering case

ASF recovered US $ 506,800 from the luggage of Ayyan.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Reknowned supermodel Ayyan Ali was sent on a 14-day judicial remand to Adiala Jail by a local court today (Saturday) for allegedly smuggling foreign currency worth millions of rupees overseas at Benazir International Airport in Islamabad, Dunya News reported.

According to sources, Ayyan was off to Dubai through a private airline when Airport Security Force (ASF) checked her luggage on the counter and recovered US $ 506,800.


Ayyan Ali was arrested from Benazir International Airport for trying to smuggle $500,000 


ASF officials confiscated the money and handed it her over to the custom authorities.

The model was shifted to Civil Hospital Rawalpindi for medical test and then presented in the court. A case was registered against her under the foreign exchange regulation and customs smuggling act. 

The defense lawyer has also submitted a bail plea in the court of custom and taxation judge. The court has set March 16 for hearing of the bail plea.
